Back in 2003 after years of discomfort whilst caravanning Liz & Alan Colleran began to investigate whether a suitable "mattress topper" could be found to alleviate their back pains and facilitate a good nights sleep in a caravan. Numerous materials, thicknesses and styles were tried and discarded until the present products were perfected and the Raskelf Portable Memory Foam mattress topper was born.
As they told others of their efforts enquiries began to filter back; "Could a friend of a friend get hold of one?" The start of a flourishing business began to develop from their living room and was more successful than they could ever have imagined! The more products that were sold, the more satisfied customers, the more the word spread, the more enquiries resulting in the present demand.
Using the concept of the portable memory foam mattress topper, products were developed using memory foam for mattress toppers used in boats, motorcaravans and the home, as they found existing products on the market had inflated prices or inferior quality.
Early in 2005 Raskelf took the ingenious step of coupling the portable memory foam toppers with a shaped duvet and the Duvalay™, for which we now own the patent, was created. Integrating these two products provides an extremely comfortable and cosy sleep system taking the concept of the sleeping bag into the next generation, sales have already far exceeded their initial expectations.
