Liz was also the winner of the Maunfacturing Business Woman Of The Year category which was sponsored by the Yorkshire and Humber manufacturing Advisory Service.
The Judges noted that Liz is ambitious and has plenty of drive to grow the business through selective customer targeting and exports.
Speaking about the awards Liz said "its in recognition of all the hard work we have done to keep the business moving forward. You have to keep an open mind and make well informed decisions" She said she aimed to make Duvalay a "sleeping necessity" for the Leisure industry.
Our recent open weekend was a great success, it was lovely to meet so many of our customers and show them our range of comfort enhancing products. It was so popular that we are thinking of making it an annual event so watch this space!
Our new Duvalaite product launch went really well and we were very pleased at the interest it has created within the industry. More details coming soon.
A Yorkshire business couple has signed an exclusive contract to supply a new, lightweight, recyclable product to the leisure vehicle industry.
Duvalay owners Liz and Alan Colleran have produced the Duvalite™ range, which will include the first fully recyclable memory fibre mattress, ideal for the caravan, motorhome and boating industries.
Initial tests show the Duvalite™ mattress can shave 37 per cent off the weight of an average caravan mattress weighing 15 kilos, with the Duvalite™ weighing in at nine kilos.
If memory fibre is also used in the soft furnishings, an overall saving of around 11 and a half kilos (two stone) would be made, making a significant impact on fuel costs.
In addition to major weight savings, the mattress is 100 per cent recyclable, inline with the forthcoming European directives.
Users will also find Duvalite™ technology will improve comfort, give better temperature harmony and dissipate moisture more effectively.
Liz and Alan have signed an exclusive deal to use the memory fibre product within the leisure vehicle sector in the UK and Europe.
Liz said: “We are confident this new material will revolutionise the products used in the manufacture of interiors for caravans and motorhomes. This will lead to superior, lighter and more environmentally friendly vans.
“I believe our new Duvalite™ range will be a real hit with customers, following on from the success of our Duvalay products.”
Liz and Alan will be showcasing the new Duvalite technology at an open weekend in their new premises, in West Yorkshire, on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 September.

Liz said: “It’s been a fantastic year and with this is mind we realised we needed a much larger space to enable us to get a better production line in operation. This makes our manufacturing much more cost effective.
“We also wanted to open a larger showroom, so our customers feel like they can drop in and see us and really get a feel for the products we produce.”
Despite the economic downturn, figures at Duvalay are up ten per cent already this year and they now employ 15 staff. The new office is double the size of the previous base in Dewsbury, measuring 9500 square meters.
Liz concluded: “Its such a sense of achievement to see how far we’ve grown in the last few years. At one point it was just me packing boxes on my kitchen table, and now we have a team behind us.”
Duvalay will be celebrating the opening of the new premises, at an open day on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 September.

Huge congratulations to John Haskelf & Jamie Windsor from Cardiff on reaching their goal. They sailed 3000 miles across the Atlantic ocean and finished in 45 days 19 hours and 21 minutes! They have raised money and awareness for The Firefighters Charity, Help for Heroes, WRVS and Breast Cancer Care. We were delighted to donate toppers for the lads to get the best night's sleep after their incredibly long and weary days and here's what they said about them:
''Our cabin became a haven of comfort thanks to your mattresses. They are still as good as new even after being slept on nearly 24 hours per day for the duration of the row. It was awesome climbing onto them after each shift. Still can't thank you enough. The seats were also amazing and also lasted well considering the hammering they had. Thank you so much. Xxx''

We recently had a very exciting day at Virgin Atlantic! Together with their newly aquired dragon Hilary Devey Liz and Alan visited their headquarters with a view to putting Duvalays on Virgin aircraft. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful and we couldn't have been made more welcome. We had a look at the first class compartments and demonstrated to the people at Virgin how well the Duvalay would work. Everyone was very optimistic and impressed with the Duvalay and the ingenious way it works.
Sir Richard himself was away preparing to celebrate his daughter's wedding but we managed a Skype call with him. He was talking to us from Johannesburg Airport and we were very excited when his face popped up onto the screen! Sir Richard was very interested and enthusiastic about the Duvalay and how it could make his first class customers more comfortable. He chatted to us and Hilary for a good while and before we said our goodbyes Sir Richard said ''Everyone should have a Duvalay!'' What a great endorsement!! and what a fantastic day!
On 4th December 2011, two firefighters from South Wales Fireservice will face the greatest challenge of their lives. Team ATLANTIC DASH take part in one of the world’s toughest races rowing 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean. Their goal: to raise awareness and over £100,000 for The Firefighters Charity, Help for Heroes, WRVS (Women's Royal Voluntary Service) and Breast Cancer Care.
John Haskell and Jamie Windsor, both from Cardiff, will face physical and emotional turmoil as they endure the unpredictability of the weather and the ocean in their self-sufficient bid to cross the Atlantic.
Raskelf Memory Foam are doing all they can to help with comfort during their momentous journey and are innovating and designing new products that will make their trip as comfortable as possibly can be. The Raskelf mattress is covered in waterproof stretch fabric donated by DARTEX COATINGS LTD, a UK based manufacturer of high quality polyurethane coated fabrics.
We are very pleased to announce that we have been granted the right of Patent from the European Patent office for our revolutionary Duvalay sleep system.
This has been a very long and expensive process but a very necessary one to protect our innovation.
