How to Measure Your Motorhome Mattress
Measure the Bed Base — Not the Existing Mattress
Start by removing any existing mattress or cushions so you can work from the physical bed base. This gives the most accurate results.
Step 1: Measure the Maximum Length and Width
Use a tape measure to record the full length and width of the bed base at its longest and widest points. Always measure along the surface of the bed base, not in a straight line through the air.
Step 2: Identify Irregular Shapes
Many motorhome beds feature curves, chamfered corners or cut-outs. If your bed is not rectangular, carefully measure all relevant areas, noting any:

Notches around cabinetry or steps
Step 3: Record a Curve (if applicable)
If your bed has a curved foot end, measure down the centreline from head to foot, and then take width measurements every 10cm. This allows us to digitally recreate the curve with precision.

If your bed is made up of more than one section (such as a folding or adjustable mattress), measure each section individually and indicate how the parts connect when in use. This helps us recommend the best design and construction for your needs.
Prefer to Send a Template?
If your bed base has a complex shape or you feel more confident providing a physical outline, we accept paper templates. Simply trace around the bed base onto a large sheet of paper, clearly label the head and foot ends, and include key measurements. Templates should be posted to our factory and will be used to produce your CAD drawing.
Measuring for Seating Areas or Convertible Beds
If your motorhome uses seat cushions to convert into a bed, the same measuring principles apply. Measure the entire sleeping surface once it’s in its nighttime configuration. We can design a single-piece mattress or topper to fit over the cushions for improved comfort and support.
Tolerances and Accuracy
We manufacture to a tolerance of ±1.5cm. While accuracy is important, there’s no need to be concerned about achieving exact millimetre-perfect measurements. Clear and consistent dimensions are more important than absolute precision.
