How to transform your campervan into a home away from home

Campervans and van conversions have been the smash hit of the last two years, with more people than ever investing in their very own 'home on wheels'. We're certain you've stumbled across the vast number of accounts dedicated to idyllic #CampervanLife whilst scrolling through social media. All of which seem to have hit the nail on the head when it comes to injecting the homely aesthetic into their camper.

Here at Duvalay we've put our heads together to come up with some top tips to add those finishing touches to your campervan. We're certain they will brighten up your space (whilst not breaking the bank) and make your trips away extra special.

1. Postcards and Pictures

Once the go-to on holidays, postcards are still available in many seaside towns and cute villages. By purchasing one on memorable trips away you can build up a collection to display in your campervan. It's also a great idea to print out snaps you take in your favorite spots.

Pin them to a cork board to add colour and interest to your space. This is also a great talking point for any fellow campers you meet on your travels.

2. Fairy lights and lanterns

Nothing says cosy quite like a set of twinkly fairy lights. There are plenty of battery-operated lights available which are ideal for pinning up around the perimeter of your van to add that beautiful soft light. We also recommend packing a spare set to hang up outside, making those idyllic summer evenings sat outdoors even more dreamy.

3. Cosy blankets and rugs

Blankets are always handy when you want to get snug on the cooler evenings. This is also a great way to add more colour into your van and the soft textures help to create a more homely feel.

The same can be said for laying out a rug on the van floor if you have the luxury of a larger campervan. This takes away having to step on a cold floor when hopping out of bed in the morning.

4. Plants

Plants have become a huge home trend over the past few years, with many deciding to incorporate a bit of the outdoors into their home decor.

Not only are plants great for aesthetic reasons, they also help to remove toxic chemicals from the air, in turn promoting a healthier environment in your campervan.

However, with that being said, unless you have a suitable shelf to 'strap them in' we'd recommend opting for the fake kind to avoid a soil spillage.

5. A comfortable sleeping area

Here at Duvalay we are great believers in a great night's sleep, whether you're at home or away in your campervan. Investing in the correct sleep products is a must if you want to make your camper feel like a true home away from home.

The majority of campervans don't come with the luxury of a fixed bed; often the seating area doubles up as a bed for the night. We may be a little biased here, but to elevate your comfort levels a Duvalay Mattress Topper or Duvalay Sleeping Bag is highly recommended. This will soften the hard surface and add maximum support to ensure you wake up free from aches and pains.

The options include our portable Travel Toppers and Sleeping Bags for those with limited storage space, or a Custom Topper for those wanting a perfect fit. We have also recently introduced our VW Campervan Topper range which has proved extremely popular for the VW Rock and Roll beds.

Which you choose is a personal choice and all depends on a variety of factors, such as how large your campervan is and the configuration of your sleeping area. But one thing we must add, each and every one of our sleep products is designed with the best night's sleep in mind.

So, if you're fairly new to van life we're certain these easy tips and tricks will have you well on your way to creating a homely haven in your camper.
